The best time to seek a new catamaran is a year before your ownership and the best time to seek a pre-owned catamaran is roughly 2 months before you wish to own. I'd be glad to help you navigate the market for your catamaran or aid you in your research. Staley Weidman III, Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB)
Miami International Boat Show: February 14th-18th 2008 at Bayside’s MiaMarina
During the show, I’ll be aboard the new Lagoon 420 equipped with 40HP diesel engines. Let me know what day you plan to attend and I will schedule time for you to board any of our catamarans directly without waiting in line. I also have a limited supply of complimentarly tickets.
Here are some TIPS to make the most out of your BOAT SHOW experience:
• Define your objective for the boat show. Are you familiarizing yourself with various catamaran models? Are you looking to purchase at a great price? Talk to me before attending and I can send you an information packet before you head to the show.
• Schedule personal time with a broker. The weekends are very busy; to spend some quality time with me or on board without the crowds set up an appointment during a weekday. Or make an appointment to come to meet me before or after the show to view pre-owned catamarans nearby. Staley@catamarans.com or 954-449-4650.
• Get to the boat show early. You can park in the garage at Bayside Marketplace with ease in the morning hours and it’s next to the show, the shops and restaurants. Otherwise, you can park at the American Airlines Arena 2 blocks from Bayside and a shuttle bus will pick you up and transport you to the show location of your choice (Strictly Sail at Bayside).
• Ask for paperwork in advance. If you are getting serious, ask for all the paperwork in advance i.e. documents that will be hard to focus on at the show. (Purchase agreements, charter income options, detailed specifications, options and pricing.) If you’re planning to finance your catamaran, ask me how you can get pre-approved for a loan now before the show and receive preferred finance rates (often .25 -.10th of a point discount).
• Ask now about show specials, offers and discounts. Did you know that if you are up to 2 years out from your plans to own a new catamaran, your hull reservation could be placed in the production schedule for any slot available near your planned ownership date? The benefit for you is a reduced pricing guarantee and your options would not need to be defined for months. There are a few options for reducing your costs; talk to me about your plans and I’ll show you how to save.
• Know the best times to purchase a new catamaran. The best deals you can get on a new catamaran is to reserve a hull very early in production when a new model is introduced. Manufacturers always underestimate what it will cost to build a new model. After the first 20 hulls are built the price normally goes up 5%-20%. This means that at resale you can sell your catamaran for what you paid for NEW, if you're buying a hot model and well-known brand.
If you’re looking for a new catamaran, the Miami Boat Show provides the best atmosphere to get a first-hand look at what’s new to the catamaran industry. If you’re looking for a pre-owned catamaran contact me to learn what’s currently on the market at a great value.
